The Chocolate Experience

Class Description

Learn more about the food everyone loves the world over.
Have you ever wondered where chocolate comes from and how it’s made? Do you want to get hands on with it under the watchful eye of a leading chocolatier? If so, this class may be exactly what you’re looking for.

This Chocolate Experience Course is a 2.5 hour, hands on class for students of all levels. It’s a fun day out to have with your friends or come on your own and meet new people who share your love of chocolate!

What you’ll learn…

The Chocolate Journey
In class, you’ll learn all about where chocolate comes from, how it’s processed commercially and then see how it’s made in small batches by artisan chocolatiers the world over using a stone grinder. The chocolate we make and use in class is all natural, plant based and free from refined sugars.

Tempering chocolate is what gives it the shine and snap we all know and love. It also makes it more shelf stable – meaning it won’t melt in your hand. I’ll show you how to easily temper chocolate, so you can do it at home.

Bounty Bites
An absolute classic in the world of chocolate treats! I’ll show you a quick and very easy way to make the bounty filling, form them into little balls, cover them in dark chocolate and roll them in chopped almonds. These are seriously good and taste just like Bounty Bars minus the glucose syrup, emulsifiers and dairy.

Chocolate Covered Stuffed Medjool Dates
These are a fantastic treat to make any time of year! You can use any variety of soft date; the filling can easily be changed by simply swapping a few ingredients and you can choose whether you dip them in chocolate or not. They also have a great shelf life, which makes them an ideal addition to a chocolate selection box.

These truffles are so easy to make and only have 2 ingredients! You can change this base recipe by switching out the nut/seed butter and shade of chocolate you use. Of course, we can add freeze dried fruits, spices and essentials oils to make these pop with originality! This is another place where you can choose to either dip them in tempered chocolate or my easy chocolate coating.

Finishing Touches
We’ll cover various easy finishing techniques to make your chocolates beautiful, without having to spend loads of time in the kitchen.

Learn A New Craft
Unlike some crafts, chocolate making can be done at home using a few easy to find tools and some good quality chocolate. In fact, as you’ll see in this class, you can even make your own artisan chocolate at home. Whether that interests you or not, you can still take your newfound skills and embark on a creative journey that’s also very tasty!

Take What You Make
You’ll take home a box of what we make in the class, which typically ends up being a nice little chocolate haul.  All the chocolates we make in class will keep for several weeks…. if you can resist for that long!

All chocolates are dairy, wheat, gluten and refined sugar free.

What is a Cook Together ticket?

Cook Together tickets allow an adult and a child between 10 – 18 years to book onto a course for a cheaper price. You will work together at the same workstation and produce enough food for you both to eat. This is part of our drive to encourage young people to enjoy cooking from scratch.

Can I book for a large group?

We have eight workstations and accommodate larger groups by working in pairs or small groups around each station. People often report they enjoy working in this way as it makes the event sociable and allows people to take a short break from the cooking as there are others to take over.

Who can attend these classes?

Most of our scheduled courses are for adults only. However, where you see a ‘Cook Together’ ticket offered then you can book for a place for a child over the age of 10 years with an adult.

It is also possible to book a bespoke course for children with an adult from the party remaining in charge of the group. Please make enquiries to

Do I need to be a confident cook?

We welcome people of all cooking experience and abilities. Our tutors will assess and adjust to your needs.

What if I have a food allergy or special dietary need?

Some of our courses can accommodate allergies and special dietary requirements however for others the replacement of one ingredient for another will not work. As there is such a range in what people require we request that you ask at the time of booking by emailing

What should I wear/bring with me?

All ingredients and equipment are provided, including aprons. For a cookery course we advise wearing layers as the cookery school can heat up once the ovens and hobs are on. Closed shoes are also requested for health and safety purposes and a band to tie back longer hair.

If you are attending a course that could be messy please adjust your clothing to take account of this.

We hope to make our courses as sustainable as possible and so request that customers bring containers to take home any food left over at the end of a course.
