Event Time:
11:00 am
Event Location:
Honesty Cookery School
Honesty Cookery School are delighted to be taking part in Astounding Inventions as part of a week of events celebrating British history run by Heritage Open Days in conjunction with The National Trust.
We are delighted to welcome food historian, Sam Bilton to delve into the history of food colouring. Medieval feasts abounded with colourful food using natural, edible ‘dyes’ like saffron. She will explain how our ancestors created these spectacular sights before the invention of artificial food colourants. There will be samples for you to taste on the day and an opportunity to buy Sam’s latest book – Fool’s Gold: A History of British Saffron.
The Living Colour talk is free to enter and must be booked through Winchester Heritage Open Days website. Booking opens on 9th August 2022.
