Sourdough Made Simple
23 June 2022
Honesty Cookery School
Nothing gets you off to a better start at the weekend than a warm crusty sourdough loaf fresh from the oven. We believe that you don’t need to be a master baker to make a successful sourdough loaf, just some guidance and a little patience and it will soon become part of your baking routine.
This workshop will teach you how to easily maintain a wild yeast sourdough starter and bake once a week using a conventional oven with no need for any expensive equipment. You will learn the kneading, folding and shaping techniques that produce a flavoursome loaf with a light texture, and also some delicious ways of using up your discarded starter.
There will be a loaf to take home, a banneton to use in the future and more dough to practise on, along with some sourdough starter and instructions on how to plan future baking.
We know that learning to make great sourdough requires the ability to judge the dough, that’s why we offer a month of digital support with your tutor after the course to enable you to troubleshoot and fully understand sourdough.
All workshops include a delicious soup and cheese lunch provided by Honesty Kitchens and Farm Shop.
The classes are suitable for complete beginners as well as more experienced bakers. 6 people maximum.
