Willow weaving – Frame Basket Workshop
22 October 2021
Honesty Cookery School
Whether you are keen to learn a new skill or rekindle previously learnt skills, our one day willow weaving course is the one for you. Join Erica, our expert tutor to learn the ancient art of willow weaving, renowned for its thoroughly absorbing and satisfying nature. She says “Willow weaving is repetitive; you get into a rhythm and find it relaxing. People go away calmer and with a sense of achievement.”
A frame basket is perfect as a first foray into basket weaving, being both relaxing to produce and allowing for some creativity in the use of materials. As an open design, a frame basket has endless uses, perfect in a practical sense and for display. Erica will provide the willow, both with and without bark, along with other tried and tested hedgerow material which can be added for visual effect.
During the day you will learn how to prepare and use the materials to make a frame. Emphasis will be on good technique and material choice to ensure a functional and attractive basket that will last a lifetime.
All materials and equipment will be provided. If you have a favourite pair of secateurs please feel free to bring them but make sure they are clearly marked.
The day will be punctuated with delicious refreshments provided by Honesty Bakers and Makers, including a lunch of freshly produced soup and breads.
All abilities welcome. Maximum 8 people on a course.
